Charities
Our child-led School Council selects the school charities and discuss fundraising opportunities with the guidance of their teachers. This process promotes opportunities to develop global-mindedness which includes a growing awareness of issues both locally and around the world.
ELABasel contributes regularly to these charities and any updates or feedback from our school charities is shared with the children to show them the many ways the money they have raised is being used.
School Charities
The Holee Children's Home
The Holee Children’s Home is part of the social commitment of the Salvation Army Foundation Switzerland. The facility offers residential care for 26 children. Three additional places are reserved for the emergency placement of minors.
Swiss School for Guide Dogs for the Blind, Allschwil
We help people who are blind or visually impaired, young people and adults who use a wheelchair, and families whose children have autism to live with greater independence, mobility and self-confidence – through exceptional partnerships with our dogs.
Sternschnuppe
A non-profit organisation operating throughout Switzerland, with offices in Zurich and Lausanne. Since 1993, we have been bringing joy and variety to the lives of children and young people living with an illness or disability. We move mountains for them. We fulfil the child’s deepest wish and give the whole family varied excursions and carefree leisure activities.
The Basel Regional Animal Welfare Association
The main task of the Basel Regional Animal Welfare Association is to take in homeless and stray cats and dogs, provide them with medical care, take them into foster care and place them in a new, loving home as soon as possible.
The association runs the largest cat shelter in the Basel region, where we take in 300-400 cats per year. Dogs that we take into our care are placed in the care of partner organizations

In addition to these chosen charities, ELABasel also raised
- 393 CHF for the Roger Federer Foundation (external site); and
- 393 CHF for the Tierschutz Beider Basel (external site, German only); and
- 239 CHF for Save the Children (external site).
- 5000 CHF for the House Charities in the November 2020 Virtual Basler Stadtlauf (City Run)
